About

Nojan Rahimian

Born in 1989 in Isfahan — the artistic jewel of Persia — Nojan grew up surrounded by Persian art and poetry, drawing and painting from the age of six as an expressive outlet.

Alongside art he excelled in mathematics, graduating from Iran’s National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents (NODET), and in 2012 moved to the United States on a full scholarship to San Diego State University for electrical engineering. He is now based in Los Angeles, painting out of his studio.

His work sits between Eastern and Western culture — illuminating pain and pleasure, and the intense conflict of emotions anyone can recognize in their own moments of self-awareness. Much of it speaks directly to mental health: series on PTSD, OCD, depression, dissociation and the quieter states in between.
